Here is a story to warm the heart as autumn settles in. Cairnsmill Caravan Park in St Andrews has raised nearly £7,000 for Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland (CHSS), thanks to a fundraising weekend that brought holidaymakers, campers and the local community together.
The news was shared by the charity itself in an article on the Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland website on 8 October 2026.
A weekend packed with fun
According to CHSS, the fundraising weekend took place at the end of September. It kicked off with a race night on the Friday, followed by a coffee morning and bingo across the weekend.
Jen Kirkcaldy, Entertainment and Charity Manager at the park, also mentioned a raffle and a cake and candy tombola among the highlights. It sounds like the kind of weekend where there was something for everyone, whether you fancied backing a winner, trying your luck on the raffle or simply enjoying a cuppa and a slice of cake.
How much was raised?
The headline figure is nearly £7,000, which is how CHSS describes the total in its article. Two slightly different figures appear in the same piece:
- the CHSS article states that in total £6,370 was raised
- in her quote, Jen Kirkcaldy says the park raised £6,730
Whichever figure is final, it is a brilliant result for a caravan park fundraising weekend, and well deserving of the "nearly £7,000" headline.
In their own words
Jen Kirkcaldy said: "From our race night and raffle to our cake and candy tombola, the support was incredible. I'm extremely proud to announce that we raised an amazing £6,730 for Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland!"
She added: "What a weekend it was, honestly, it was the best! We also played a short YouTube video about the incredible work CHSS does and it really engaged everyone in the room and reminded us all exactly why we were fundraising."
And she summed it up nicely: "We were completely overwhelmed by everyone's generosity and support, and we're so proud of what our Cairnsmill community achieved together."
Julianne Scarlett, Fundraising Events Assistant at CHSS, said: "We're incredibly grateful to Cairnsmill Caravan Park for choosing to support CHSS and we're thrilled to see how much the community supported the weekend."
She went on: "Community events like this play a vital role in helping us continue to support the 1 in 5 people across Scotland who are living with chest, heart, stroke conditions and Long Covid, as well as their families and carers."

The community spirit of caravan parks
Stories like this are a lovely reminder of what makes caravan parks special. Ask almost any static caravan owner what they love about their park, and the answer often comes back to the people: the neighbours who wave hello every weekend, the familiar faces in the clubhouse, and the friendships that grow over many seasons.
A charity weekend draws all of that together. Owners, holidaymakers and local residents turning out for a race night or a game of bingo, and baking for a tombola, shows how a park can be a real community as well as a place to get away from it all.
Many parks across the UK run similar events through the year, from quiz nights and fun runs to coffee mornings and summer fetes, raising money for local and national causes. If your park has a fundraising tradition of its own, it is well worth getting involved. It is a great way to meet fellow owners and to give something back.
Well done, Cairnsmill
A huge well done to Jen Kirkcaldy, the team at Cairnsmill Caravan Park, and everyone who came along, donated a prize, baked a cake or bought a raffle ticket. Raising nearly £7,000 in one weekend is a fantastic effort, and it will make a real difference to people across Scotland.
