Orchard Park, Ingoldmells Marks Remembrance With 20,000 Hand-Made Poppies

A holiday park on the Lincolnshire coast has been praised for a moving tribute ahead of Remembrance Sunday. As reported by LincolnshireWorld, Orchard Park in Ingoldmells has created Remembrance displays featuring 20,000 hand-made poppies.

A community effort

The exterior of the park is now adorned in cascades of red, with flashes of purple and words to remember those who gave their lives. The displays are the work of a group made up of the park's owners, private caravan owners and other volunteers.

This is the third year the park has put out poppy displays, and LincolnshireWorld describes this year's as the most impressive so far.

In their own words

One of the volunteers is caravan owner Linda Gary, who said: "Creating this display is a deeply moving way to bring our community together, transforming a shared space into a visual tribute for the fallen and their families, creating a great community spirit for our park."

She added: "Visitors to the park are amazed and encourage us to extend it, which is a challenge for us to come up with new ideas. The more poppies we can knit the bigger it will get."

The displays have drawn praise online, with almost 100 people leaving positive comments on Facebook, according to the report. One commenter wrote: "Looks amazing, well done to all the knitters and people who help put it all together".
