Another Parkdean Resorts park is getting a major makeover. The operator is to invest £6 million in Thorness Bay Holiday Park on the Isle of Wight, with a transformation scheduled for completion by Easter 2027, according to Hospitality & Catering News.
The investment forms part of Parkdean Resorts' wider £70 million programme of upgrades across its holiday parks during 2027. It follows the £5m investment at Skipsea Sands in East Yorkshire, which we covered recently and which is part of the same programme.
What is planned at Thorness Bay
Hospitality & Catering News reports that the programme will introduce:
- High ropes and indoor adventure golf.
- Off-road driving experiences for children aged four and over.
- Expanded indoor and outdoor adventure play areas, a bounce park, a sports court and a Bear Grylls-themed escape room.
- A new two-storey venue incorporating Hat-Tricks, Parkdean Resorts' sports bar concept, with interactive darts, pool and shuffleboard alongside food and drink.
- New food outlets, with Scoops Ice Cream, Joe's American Grill and Thunderbird Strip Shack joining the park's food and drink offer.
- A new outdoor entertainment and dining space with bar facilities and outdoor seating.
What Parkdean Resorts has said
Steve Richards, CEO at Parkdean Resorts, said: "We're committed to investing £6m in Thorness Bay Holiday Park, upgrading our accommodation and further enhancing the holiday experience for guests and owners on the Isle of Wight. From exciting new activities that include adventure golf and high ropes to an enhanced food and drink offering, there will be even more for families and holidaymakers to enjoy."
He added: "This investment reflects our continued commitment to supporting local jobs, tourism and economic growth in the communities where we operate. We look forward to welcoming guests to a new and improved Thorness Bay from Easter 2027."
Parkdean Resorts said the development is expected to support tourism on the Isle of Wight while creating additional permanent and seasonal employment. The operator has four holiday parks on the island (Landguard, Lower Hyde, Nodes Point and Thorness Bay), employing more than 430 people, and around 240 seasonal positions were recruited across the four parks during 2026.
If you own a caravan at Thorness Bay
For owners, the headline is more to do on the doorstep, with new activities, places to eat and a new two-storey venue with the Hat-Tricks sports bar due from Easter 2027. It may be worth keeping an eye on updates from the park about timings, particularly if you usually visit early in the season.
As with any change on a park, owners may want to check their licence agreement for how pitch fees are reviewed, so they know what the agreement says. Our guides to how site fees affect selling a static caravan and selling a static caravan with a pitch licence explain the basics.
