Introduction

Looking up an ABI Ambleside value, an Ambleside Premier, or how a current 40 x 13 compares with an older 12 ft or 14 ft example? Ambleside is a long-running ABI holiday-home name, and Ambleside Premier is a separate wider pack, not a soft synonym for a loaded standard model. This guide keeps those apart, sticks to factory pages, dated reviews and labelled asking prices, and treats the trade figure as an individual quote.

ABI Ambleside quick guide

Manufacturer ABI, Beverley, East Yorkshire
Place in the range Mid to upper mid holiday home on ABI's live collection. Distinct from ABI Beaumont, St James, Horizon, Keswick and lodge lines
How old is the name? Leisuredays' June 2011 review says Ambleside was introduced into the company's range in 2011. Treat that as contemporaneous review dating
Early documented example 2011 review: 3-bed model; body text says 38 x 12, specification box says 38 x 13. Flagged as a conflict in that source. Pre-galvanised chassis, aluminium cladding, uPVC DG, full central heating, patio doors
Current standard layouts (ABI 2027 page / 2026 specs sheet) 40 x 13 2-bed; 41 x 13 3-bed
Ambleside Premier (keep separate) Premier Pack: 14 ft wide, Chateaux Grey hard PVCu cladding, larger sofa, 3 ft twin beds, dressing table with stool in the twin room on the 2-bed. Current Premier layouts: 40 x 14 2-bed; 41 x 14 3-bed
Current manufacturer prices (ABI Ambleside page, checked October 2026) 40 x 13 2-bed £78,055.38; 41 x 13 3-bed £77,403.02. ABI states these figures are inclusive of VAT, for the basic model without optional extras and plot fees. Confirm with the park. These are new manufacturer prices, not used values. ABI's page lists the 3-bed below the 2-bed, so do not assume a 3-bed always cost more new
2021 Premier review Leisuredays reviewed a 41 x 14 2-bed Ambleside Premier; ex-works £58,900; EN 1647; other Ambleside sizes listed in that review included 40 x 13, 38 x 12, 41 x 13 and 40 x 14
Trade value Individual valuation recommended.
Current status Ambleside and Ambleside Premier appear on ABI's live 2027 collection page and in current Ambleside specification material (checked October 2026)

Model history

2011 introduction. Leisuredays' June 2011 review of the three-bedroom Ambleside says the model was introduced into ABI's range in 2011, built to EN 1647, with a pre-galvanised steel chassis, aluminium cladding, pantile roof, full central heating and uPVC double glazing. The same review describes a two-bedroom version sharing the lounge, kitchen and dining areas. Read the size carefully: the narrative says 38 x 12 while the specification box says 38 x 13. We are not choosing between those figures. Measure the caravan and check the plate.

Ongoing refresh. ABI's own "Beautifully Updated for 2018" Ambleside article (manufacturer news) describes an updated Ambleside with two- and three-bedroom layouts and a Premier Pack upgrade path. That dates a refresh, not a first launch.

2021 Ambleside Premier review. Leisuredays' December 2020 review of the 2021 Ambleside Premier covers a 41 x 14 2-bed with matt grey plastic exterior cladding, double glazing, central heating, large freestanding sofas, split kitchen, ensuite and a spacious master. Ex-works: £58,900. A sited classified spotted then in Cumbria was £84,900. Other Ambleside models listed in that review: 40 x 13 2-bed, 38 x 12 2-bed, 41 x 13 3-bed, 40 x 14 2-bed.

Current Ambleside (2026 specs / 2027 live page). ABI's Ambleside specification sheet and live 2027 product page show four layouts: standard 40 x 13 2-bed and 41 x 13 3-bed, plus Premier 40 x 14 2-bed and 41 x 14 3-bed. Standard exterior wording includes matt finish Chateaux Grey aluminium cladding, pre-galvanised twin-axle chassis, Graphite Grey Low-E PVCu Thermaglass argon-filled double glazing, front French doors and fully condensing boiler gas central heating. Residential specification BS 3632 is an option, not automatic proof of model year.

Do not confuse Ambleside with Ambleside Premier, or with other ABI names such as the Beaumont, St James and Horizon.

How to identify an ABI Ambleside

  • Start with the paperwork, then check the caravan. Start with the manufacturer plate, serial/chassis information and any original paperwork, then confirm standard versus Premier, the year, exact size and options. Plates may not show every marketing suffix.
  • Standard versus Premier. Current Premier Pack content on ABI's page: Chateaux Grey hard PVCu cladding, 14 ft width, larger sofa, 3 ft beds in the twin room, and a dressing table with stool in the twin room on the 2-bed model. A standard Ambleside in the current material is the 13 ft aluminium-clad pair.
  • Width is a hard check. Current standard layouts are 13 ft; current Premier layouts are 14 ft. Older stock includes 12 ft examples in review material. Measure yours.
  • Front doors. Current standard list shows front French doors; full front sliding door is an option in lieu of French doors. Optional panoramic sliding doors appear in marketing photography captions.
  • Ensuite. Current material and the 2021 Premier review describe a separate ensuite toilet and shower. Do not assume a domestic bath unless the options list and the caravan show one (bath is marked unavailable on the current 13 ft standard table excerpt checked).

2011 review notes: treat as early-generation identification only; resolve the 38 x 12 / 38 x 13 print conflict by measuring the caravan.

How much is an ABI Ambleside worth?

Current ABI list prices and sited Premier packages are easy to misuse. They describe new money or park packages, not a cash purchase of a used Ambleside with the pitch left behind.

Individual valuation recommended. We do not publish a fixed trade-value band for this model because year, specification, condition and collection requirements can make too much difference. A 2011 Ambleside of about 38 ft, a 13 ft standard model and a 14 ft Premier are different caravans under one name, so one range would mislead.

What would SCB actually pay?

We quote the individual caravan: year, exact size, standard or Premier, whether BS 3632 is evidenced, damp, chassis type, and collection. A 2011 2-bed is not priced as a 2027 Premier park package.

The figure is for the caravan alone, with collection arranged by us. It is not ABI's published new price and not a pitch-fees-included retail asking price.

Online prices and price context

Examples checked October 2026, labelled by type:

  • Current manufacturer prices (ABI, stated inclusive of VAT): £78,055.38 for the 40 x 13 2-bed; £77,403.02 for the 41 x 13 3-bed. ABI notes final prices vary with park, plot and options. These are new prices, not used values, and ABI lists the 3-bed slightly below the 2-bed.
  • Historical new price (ex-works, from review): £58,900 for the 2021 Ambleside Premier review model.
  • Off-site dealer used asking price (VAT basis not stated): £43,995 for a 2019 Ambleside Premier 40 x 14 2-bed (Pioneer Caravans, pre-owned listing).
  • Sited park asking price: £92,995 for a 2022 Ambleside Premier 40 x 14 2-bed, fully decked, with pitch fees described as included until the 2027 season (Haystax Holiday Park listing republished via Riverside Rothbury; package terms).

Retail vs private vs trade: what the numbers mean

  • Manufacturer RRP or ex-works price: what a new caravan cost from the factory or its price list in a given year. VAT treatment is not always stated, and siting, transport and connections are extra.
  • Dealer or park retail asking price: what a seller hopes to get. A sited park price usually includes the pitch, siting, connections, sometimes decking and site fees, and the seller's margin. An off-site dealer price usually includes refurbishment, warranty and margin.
  • Private asking price: often lower than retail, but the seller carries the risk, time and transport, and many parks restrict private sales on the pitch.
  • Trade or cash buyer value: what a buyer such as Static Caravan Buyer pays for the caravan alone, collected from the pitch, with the buyer taking on transport, refurbishment and resale. It is lower than retail because those costs and risks move to the buyer.

An asking price is not a sale price, and none of the online figures in this guide is a trade value.

What affects ABI Ambleside value?

  • Generation and footprint: early stock of about 38 ft, later 13 ft standard and 14 ft Premier are different caravans.
  • Ambleside versus Ambleside Premier. Width, cladding type and lounge furniture differ on the current pack definition.
  • Residential BS 3632 versus holiday EN 1647. Paperwork has to match the claim.
  • Fully galvanised chassis versus pre-galvanised only.
  • Damp, roof, French or sliding doors, and cladding condition (aluminium versus hard PVCu or CanExel).
  • Appliances still present, including optional dishwasher, washing machine or microwave.
  • Collection access. A 14 ft Premier is a different move from a 12 ft early example.
  • Pitch included or not.

Known features and quirks

  • Premier is a defined pack. On current ABI wording it means the 14 ft hard-PVCu path with specific lounge and twin-room upgrades. Do not call every well-equipped Ambleside a Premier.
  • 2011 size print conflict. The early Leisuredays review disagrees with itself on 12 ft versus 13 ft. Measure.
  • Bath is not the current standard ensuite story. Current standard tables checked mark a domestic-style bath as unavailable on the 13 ft pair; ensuite shower and separate toilet are standard.
  • List price shock. Owners of a 2019 to 2022 Ambleside sometimes compare it with the live ABI figures above. New money is not second-hand money.
  • Other ABI badges. Ambleside is not Beaumont, St James, Horizon, Keswick, Langdale or a lodge name.

FAQs

What is an ABI Ambleside Premier?

On ABI's current Ambleside material, the Premier Pack is the 14 ft path with Chateaux Grey hard PVCu cladding, a larger sofa, 3 ft twin beds and, on the 2-bed, a dressing table with stool in the twin room. Current Premier layouts are 40 x 14 2-bed and 41 x 14 3-bed. Confirm on the paperwork; older Premier stock may not match every current pack line.

What size is an ABI Ambleside?

Current standard layouts are 40 x 13 2-bed and 41 x 13 3-bed. Current Premier layouts are 40 x 14 and 41 x 14. Earlier review material also mentions 38 x 12 / 38 x 13 and other combinations. Measure yours.

Is the ABI Ambleside still made?

Yes. Ambleside and Ambleside Premier appear on ABI's live 2027 collection page and current specification material (checked October 2026).

How much is an ABI Ambleside worth?

Individual valuation recommended. ABI's current new figures of £77,403 to £78,055 inclusive of VAT on the standard 13 ft pair are not used values, and used and sited asking prices sit on different bases.

Selling an ABI Ambleside

If the park has written to you about age limits, or you would rather not wait for a buyer who also needs the pitch, a direct trade sale is often the simpler route.

We buy ABI Ambleside and Ambleside Premier holiday homes across the UK.

A standard 40 x 13 and a Premier 41 x 14 need different notes on the valuation. Send the details and we will price the caravan you actually have.

SCB process

  1. Call 0800 644 5000 or use the free offer form on our website.
  2. Tell us what the manufacturer plate and paperwork say: the year, size, bedrooms, heating and glazing, condition and where the caravan is sited. Photos help.
  3. Our team normally aims to contact you within 24 hours, and aims to make an offer within 48 hours of that contact. These are aims, not guarantees.
  4. If you accept, we arrange collection on a date that works for you and the park.
  5. Payment is made on collection day before the caravan is loaded.

There are no estate-agent fees and no commission.
