Last valuation guide update: October 2026
Introduction
Melrose is one of Carnaby's long-running names, used on an earlier range reviewed in 2009 and 2012 and on a new model sold from 2025. This guide explains the two generations, how to identify yours and how a Melrose is valued when you sell.
Carnaby Caravans has built holiday homes near Bridlington, East Yorkshire, since 1976.

Model history
Melrose is one of Carnaby's long-running names. In 2009 the Melrose range had six layouts up to a 37 x 12 three-bed with two front entrances, and by 2012 it was one of Carnaby's best sellers with nine layouts, including the 30 x 12 centre-lounge 292B CL (ex-works £24,965.92 including VAT).
Carnaby reused the name for a new Melrose sold as new for 2025, with 32 to 39ft x 12ft layouts, a centre-lounge version and an Outlook option. Leisuredays put the 2026 37 x 12 two-bed at about £56,962 ex-works. In October 2026 the Melrose no longer appears on Carnaby's range page, and we found no 2027 Melrose. We could not confirm whether the name was used continuously between 2012 and 2025.
How to identify a Carnaby Melrose
- Start with the plate and paperwork. Check the manufacturer plate, serial or chassis number and any original paperwork, then confirm the model against the measured size, layout and specification.
- Generation: check the plate year. 2009 to 2012 models and 2025-on models are different caravans.
- Two front entrances: a feature of the larger 2009 Melrose.
- Centre lounge: offered in both eras (the 2012 292B CL and the 2026 Melrose CL); it is a layout, not a different model.
- 2025 models: Champagne aluminium cladding; painted chassis with pre-galvanised legs.
- Measure it yourself. Advert headlines often round sizes or misstate the width.
Specs and typical layout
This is a summary of the sources we used, not a full factory specification for every year.
- 2009: six layouts up to 37 x 12 three-bed; aluminium cladding, pantile roof, double glazing and wet central heating standard
- 2012: nine layouts including the 30 x 12 292B CL; double glazing and central heating standard
- 2026: 32 x 12 2 bed, 35 x 12 2 bed, 36 x 12 3 bed, 37 x 12 2 bed, 39 x 12 3 bed; EN 1647; Ultra Warm Plus optional
- Handleless kitchen and corner sofa with media wall on current models
How much is a Carnaby Melrose worth?
There is no single figure for a Carnaby Melrose. A cash offer depends on the individual caravan: its year, confirmed size and layout, specification, condition, and what collection involves. The name covers a 2009 to 2012 range and a different 2025 to 2026 model, so one range would mislead.
Individual valuation recommended.
What would SCB actually pay?
We do not publish a fixed trade-value band for this model because year, specification, condition and collection requirements can make too much difference.
What we pay for a Carnaby Melrose is a trade price for the caravan itself, removed from the pitch. It will be below park, dealer and private asking prices, because those include things a trade buyer does not get (a pitch, siting, site-fee packages, warranties and the seller's margin) and leave out costs a trade buyer carries (collection, transport, refurbishment and resale).
Online prices and price context
- Manufacturer ex-works (approx.), 2026 37 x 12: £56,962 (Leisuredays)
- Off-site dealer, 2025: £47,500 (35 x 12) and £49,995 (37 x 12) for new 2025 models at Lloyds, Towyn (the listing had been removed by October 2026, so treat these as historical asking prices; VAT basis not stated)
- Dealer 'from' price, 2026: £55,844.86 (Broughton Leisure; VAT basis not stated)
- Historical ex-works, 2012 Melrose 292B CL: £24,965.92 inc VAT
Off-site dealer prices exclude a pitch; ex-works prices exclude delivery and siting. None is a trade value.
Retail vs private vs trade: what the numbers mean
- Manufacturer RRP or list price: what the maker quotes for a new caravan, usually before options, delivery, siting and pitch fees. Check whether VAT is included.
- Ex-works price: the factory price for a new unit before delivery and siting; review sites quote it for the model year they tested.
- Dealer retail asking price: a dealer's price for new or used stock. Off-site dealer prices usually exclude a pitch; dealer margin is built in.
- Sited park asking price: what a park asks for a caravan already on a pitch. It often includes siting, connections, steps, decking and sometimes a period of site fees, plus the park's margin.
- Private asking price: what an owner hopes to get, often with the caravan staying on its pitch, subject to park approval and any park commission.
- Trade or cash buyer value: what a buyer such as SCB pays for the caravan itself, removed from the pitch and collected. It is lower than retail because the buyer pays for collection, transport, any refurbishment, a new pitch or resale, and takes on the risk.
An asking price is not a sale price, and neither is what a trade buyer pays. None of the figures in this guide is an SCB purchase price.
What affects Carnaby Melrose value?
- Year and paperwork. The plate, serial number and any original paperwork confirm the model year and specification.
- Confirmed size and layout. Measured length, width and bedroom count, not an advert headline.
- Heating and glazing. Whether central heating and double glazing were fitted, and whether the heating works.
- Condition. Damp, roof, floors, windows, cladding and chassis condition matter more than cosmetic finish.
- Appliances and fittings. Whether they are present, safe and working.
- Collection access. Ground conditions, access for the transport vehicle and the caravan's width all affect cost.
- Pitch or no pitch. A trade buyer is buying the caravan, not the pitch, so pitch value and site-fee packages do not transfer.
Known features and quirks
- Two very different generations share the name.
- Some larger 2009 Melroses have two front entrances.
- On 2025 to 2026 models, Ultra Warm Plus insulation was an upgrade.
FAQs
Is the Carnaby Melrose still made?
Carnaby listed it for 2026, but in October 2026 it no longer appears on Carnaby's range page and we found no 2027 Melrose.
Is a Melrose CL a different model?
No. CL means centre lounge, a layout offered in both the 2012 and 2026 ranges.
Can I sell it and keep the pitch?
No. A trade buyer buys the caravan and removes it. Talk to your park about notice, any final site fees and what happens to the pitch.
