Last valuation guide update: October 2026

Introduction

The Atlas Moonstone was the entry point to the Atlas Leisure Homes range, built in Hull in several generations. The 2018 brochure model is the Moonstone 5 and a 2016 example is sold as the Moonstone-3, so the number after the name matters. This guide explains the generations, why some adverts call a 36 x 12 a 37 x 12, and how a trade valuation works.

Model history

The Moonstone was the entry-level Atlas holiday home. The Atlas 2018 range brochure describes the Moonstone 5 as 'the entry point to the Atlas Leisure Homes range', in 35 x 12 two-bed, 36 x 12 two-bed with en-suite and 36 x 12 three-bed layouts.

The number after the name changed as Atlas updated the model: a 2016 example is listed as the Moonstone-3, and the 2018 brochure model is the Moonstone 5. The 2018 version had central heating and double glazing as standard. The '5' implies earlier versions, but we could not establish when the first Moonstone was built. A 2020 Moonstone is also advertised.

Atlas Leisure Homes, a Hull manufacturer trading since 1973, entered administration in March 2025. In June 2025 the Rix Group bought the Atlas name, model designs and some equipment and said it would bring the brand back; parks have since advertised new 2026 Atlas models, including the Debonair. Atlas caravans built before 2025 were made by the original Hull company, so check warranty cover with the park or dealer.

How to identify an Atlas Moonstone

  • Start with the plate and paperwork. The manufacturer plate, serial or chassis number and original paperwork are the most reliable way to confirm the model and year.
  • Measure it yourself. Check the length and width with a tape rather than relying on an advert headline.
  • Check the plate for the generation number (for example Moonstone-3 or Moonstone 5).
  • Expect a tape measure to give more than the nominal size: in Atlas's 2018 table the "36 x 12" measures 37' 1" at its shortest and 40' 6" at its longest, and the 35 x 12 measures 35' 6" to 39' 1".
  • Check the chassis: painted was standard and pre-galvanised was an option in 2018.
  • The 36 x 12 three-bed has two toilets; the 36 x 12 two-bed ES has an en-suite.
  • An asking price is not a value. What a park or dealer is asking tells you little about what the caravan is worth to a trade buyer.

Specs and typical layout

This is a summary of the sources we found, not a full factory specification for every year.

  • Sizes (2018 brochure): 35 x 12 two-bed (6 berth), 36 x 12 two-bed with en-suite (6 berth), 36 x 12 three-bed (8 berth)
  • Measured lengths (2018 brochure table): 35 x 12 from 10.848 m (35' 6") to 11.898 m (39' 1"); 36 x 12 from 11.305 m (37' 1") to 12.355 m (40' 6"), depending on what is measured
  • Standard (2018): central heating, PVC double glazing, electric fire, sofa bed, open-plan lounge
  • Chassis: painted as standard; pre-galvanised optional
  • 2016 Moonstone-3 36 x 12 three-bed: 11.15 m x 3.68 m, two toilets (Out and About Live)

How much is an Atlas Moonstone worth?

Individual valuation recommended. We do not publish a fixed trade-value band for the Moonstone because year, specification, condition and collection requirements can make too much difference. The name covers several generations with different interiors and specifications, so one range for 'Moonstone' would mislead.

What would SCB actually pay?

Our offer is a trade price for the caravan itself, collected from where it stands. It is based on the year, confirmed size and layout, condition (damp, floors, roof and chassis), heating and glazing, and how straightforward collection will be, measured against what we can realistically resell it for. For a Moonstone the generation, chassis type and chassis condition are key, especially on coastal sites.

A trade offer will normally be lower than the retail, park and private asking prices below. Those prices often include a pitch, siting, connections, decking, site fees or a dealer margin, and the seller has time to wait for the right buyer. A trade buyer pays for the caravan alone, arranges collection and takes on the cost and risk of resale. Individual valuation recommended: send us the plate details and some photos and we will give you a figure for your caravan.

Online prices and price context

  • Off-site dealer advert: £10,750 for a 2016 Moonstone advertised as 37 x 12 three-bed, double glazed and centrally heated (Static Trader)

This is an off-site advert price including the seller's margin; it is not what a trade buyer paid. We did not find a reliable dated park asking price. These are list, dealer, park or private asking prices; we give the year where the source states one. None of them is a trade or cash buyer price, and none should be read as what a trade buyer would pay.

Retail vs private vs trade: what the numbers mean

  • Manufacturer list price (RRP) and ex-works price: what a new caravan costs from the maker or its dealers. Ex-works usually excludes delivery and siting. Some sources state whether VAT is included and some do not; where a source does not say, we say so, and those figures should not be compared directly with prices that include VAT.
  • Dealer retail asking (off-site): a dealer's price for a caravan not on a pitch. It includes the dealer's margin and often preparation or a warranty, and delivery and siting are usually extra.
  • Sited park asking: a price for a caravan on a park pitch. It often includes the pitch, siting, connections, sometimes decking and part of the site fees, and the park's margin.
  • Private asking: what an owner hopes to get. It can be higher than trade but may take a long time, and buyers often need the park's approval and a pitch.
  • Trade or cash buyer value: what a trade buyer pays for the caravan alone, collected. It is the lowest of these figures because the buyer takes on collection, any refurbishment and the resale risk, but it is usually the quickest and simplest exit.

What affects Atlas Moonstone value?

  • Generation and year: Moonstone-3, Moonstone 5 or later.
  • Chassis: painted or pre-galvanised, and its condition.
  • Layout: two-bed, two-bed with en-suite, or three-bed.
  • Warranty: caravans built before 2025 were made by the original Hull company, so any factory warranty position should be checked.
  • Pitch or no pitch.
  • Condition: damp, soft floors, roof, windows and chassis condition matter more than the model name.
  • Appliances and fittings: present, safe and working.
  • Collection access: how easy it is to get a vehicle to the caravan and move it off the pitch.

Known features and quirks

  • Atlas quotes nominal sizes. Measured lengths in its own table run from about 1 ft to about 4 ft longer than the name, depending on what is measured, so a 36 x 12 advertised as 37 x 12 is very likely the same caravan.
  • Painted chassis was standard, so check chassis condition on coastal examples.

FAQs

Why does an advert call my Moonstone a 37 x 12?

Atlas's 2018 brochure shows the "36 x 12" measuring at least 37' 1" long, so a dealer measuring it will reasonably call it 37 x 12. It is very likely the same caravan.

Is the Atlas Moonstone still made?

Atlas Leisure Homes entered administration in March 2025, and the Rix Group bought the Atlas name and designs in June 2025. Parks have advertised some new 2026 Atlas models, but we have not seen a new 2026 Moonstone.

What does the number after Moonstone mean?

It marks the generation. A 2016 example is listed as the Moonstone-3 and the 2018 brochure model is the Moonstone 5.

Will you buy my Atlas Moonstone if it is old or needs work?

We look at caravans of all ages and conditions. Age and condition change the offer, so send us the plate details and photos and we will value it individually.
