Introduction

Atlas used the Sapphire name for many years, including the Sapphire-2 of 2016, a Sapphire Super and a Sapphire lodge. This guide explains the versions, how to identify yours, what Atlas's 2025 administration means, and how a Sapphire is valued.

Model history

Atlas used the Sapphire name for many years. Used examples are dated 2005, 2008 and 2013, and Atlas's 2016 collection included the Sapphire-2 in 32, 35 and 36ft x 12ft layouts, with a basic recommended retail price of £26,050 to £28,250 before VAT (£28,146 to £30,559 ex-works including VAT). Double glazing (£1,218) and gas central heating (£1,627.50) were extra-cost options that year. A Sapphire Super and a 38ft x 12ft Sapphire lodge with two en-suites also appear in park listings. We could not establish where one generation ends and the next begins.

Atlas Leisure Homes, a Hull manufacturer trading since 1973, entered administration in March 2025. In June 2025 the Rix Group bought the Atlas name, model designs and some equipment and said it would bring the brand back; parks have since advertised new 2026 Atlas models, including the Debonair. Atlas caravans built before 2025 were made by the original Hull company, so check warranty cover with the park or dealer.

How to identify an Atlas Sapphire

  • Start with the plate and paperwork. Check the manufacturer plate, serial or chassis number and any original paperwork, then confirm the model against the measured size, layout and specification.
  • Sapphire-2 (2016): pantile roof, woodgrain aluminium cladding, Velux roof light.
  • Chassis: painted as standard on the Sapphire-2; pre-galvanised or galvanised was optional.
  • Variants: a Sapphire Super (36 x 12 two-bed seen) and a 38 x 12 Sapphire lodge with two en-suites and CanExel-style cladding are different products; check the plate.
  • Measure it yourself. Advert headlines often round sizes or misstate the width.

Specs and typical layout

This is a summary of the sources we used, not a full factory specification for every year.

  • Sapphire-2 sizes (2016): 32 x 12 and 35 x 12 two-bed; 36 x 12 three-bed
  • Options (2016): PVCu double glazing £1,218; gas central heating £1,627.50; extra insulation £315 (RRP incl 5% VAT)
  • Painted chassis standard; pantile roof; woodgrain aluminium; Velux roof light
  • Dated examples: 2005 35 x 12 two-bed; 2008 36 x 12 three-bed; 2013 35 x 12 two-bed with double glazing, central heating and en-suite WC

How much is an Atlas Sapphire worth?

There is no single figure for an Atlas Sapphire. A cash offer depends on the individual caravan: its year, confirmed size and layout, specification, condition, and what collection involves. The name covers caravans from at least 2005 to 2016 and later, plus Super and lodge variants, often with heating and glazing as options, so a single range would mislead.

Individual valuation recommended.

What would SCB actually pay?

We do not publish a fixed trade-value band for this model because year, specification, condition and collection requirements can make too much difference.

What we pay for an Atlas Sapphire is a trade price for the caravan itself, removed from the pitch. It will be below park, dealer and private asking prices, because those include things a trade buyer does not get (a pitch, siting, site-fee packages, warranties and the seller's margin) and leave out costs a trade buyer carries (collection, transport, refurbishment and resale).

Online prices and price context

  • Manufacturer RRP, 2016 Sapphire-2 (ex VAT): £26,050 to £28,250; ex-works including VAT £28,146 to £30,559
  • Park asking price: £34,975 for a 2008 36 x 12 three-bed (Triangle Leisure Parks, October 2026)

The 2016 figures are new prices for that year. The park asking price includes a pitch and the park's margin and is not a trade value.

Retail vs private vs trade: what the numbers mean

  • Manufacturer RRP or list price: what the maker quotes for a new caravan, usually before options, delivery, siting and pitch fees. Check whether VAT is included.
  • Ex-works price: the factory price for a new unit before delivery and siting; review sites quote it for the model year they tested.
  • Dealer retail asking price: a dealer's price for new or used stock. Off-site dealer prices usually exclude a pitch; dealer margin is built in.
  • Sited park asking price: what a park asks for a caravan already on a pitch. It often includes siting, connections, steps, decking and sometimes a period of site fees, plus the park's margin.
  • Private asking price: what an owner hopes to get, often with the caravan staying on its pitch, subject to park approval and any park commission.
  • Trade or cash buyer value: what a buyer such as SCB pays for the caravan itself, removed from the pitch and collected. It is lower than retail because the buyer pays for collection, transport, any refurbishment, a new pitch or resale, and takes on the risk.

An asking price is not a sale price, and neither is what a trade buyer pays. None of the figures in this guide is an SCB purchase price.

What affects Atlas Sapphire value?

  • Year and paperwork. The plate, serial number and any original paperwork confirm the model year and specification.
  • Confirmed size and layout. Measured length, width and bedroom count, not an advert headline.
  • Heating and glazing. Whether central heating and double glazing were fitted, and whether the heating works.
  • Condition. Damp, roof, floors, windows, cladding and chassis condition matter more than cosmetic finish.
  • Appliances and fittings. Whether they are present, safe and working.
  • Collection access. Ground conditions, access for the transport vehicle and the caravan's width all affect cost.
  • Pitch or no pitch. A trade buyer is buying the caravan, not the pitch, so pitch value and site-fee packages do not transfer.

Known features and quirks

  • Heating and glazing were extra-cost options on the 2016 Sapphire-2, so check what yours has.
  • Painted chassis as standard: check its condition, especially near the coast.
  • Atlas warranty cover on pre-2025 caravans may be affected by the administration; check with the park or dealer.

FAQs

Is Atlas still in business?

Atlas Leisure Homes entered administration in March 2025, and in June 2025 the Rix Group bought the Atlas name and designs. See the Atlas status note under Model history for what this means for owners.

What is the Sapphire-2?

The version of the Sapphire in Atlas's 2016 collection, in 32, 35 and 36ft x 12ft layouts.

Can I sell it and keep the pitch?

No. A trade buyer buys the caravan and removes it. Talk to your park about notice, any final site fees and what happens to the pitch.
