Last valuation guide update: October 2026

Introduction

Swift has used the Vendee name since 2004, on 12 ft wide holiday caravans and on wider lodges. Today it is sold as the Vendee Lodge, built to BS 3632 residential specification, but a Vendee from around 2019 to 2021 may be a 40 x 12 holiday caravan. This guide explains how to tell which you have, what published prices mean and how a trade valuation works.

Model history

Swift first sold a Vendee in 2004, according to Out and About Live, and relaunched the Vendee lodge and holiday home range with a refreshed country-style design for 2019. Around 2019 to 2021 the Vendee was sold as a 40 x 12 two-bed holiday caravan, and Leisuredays reviewed a 43 x 13 Vendee lodge built to BS 3632 in 2023. Swift now markets it as the Vendee Lodge. 2026 dealer specifications list a fully galvanised chassis, CanExel cladding, Thermaglas double glazing and gas combi central heating. Because the name covers more than 20 years and both caravan and lodge versions, two 'Vendees' can be very different homes.

How to identify a Swift Vendee

  • Start with the plate and paperwork. The manufacturer plate, serial or chassis number and original paperwork are the most reliable way to confirm the model and year.
  • Measure it yourself. Check the length and width with a tape rather than relying on an advert headline.
  • Measure the width. 12 ft means a holiday caravan version; 13 or 14 ft means a lodge.
  • Check the plate or paperwork for BS 3632 residential specification.
  • On the 2023 lodge, look for twin wardrobes with a seat between them in the master bedroom; a Velux roof light in the kitchen was an option.
  • Check the cladding: current lodges have CanExel.
  • An asking price is not a value. What a park or dealer is asking tells you little about what the caravan is worth to a trade buyer.

Specs and typical layout

This is a summary of the sources we found, not a full factory specification for every year.

  • Holiday caravan version (around 2019 to 2021): 40 x 12 two-bed
  • Lodge (2023 review): 43 x 13 two-bed, BS 3632, CanExel finish
  • Lodge (2026 dealer spec): 42 x 13 and 42 x 14 two-bed; BS 3632:2023; fully galvanised Pro-Tech chassis with 10-year finish warranty; Mist Grey CanExel; Thermaglas double glazing; gas combi central heating
  • Sleeps: up to 6 in two bedrooms (2019 range)

How much is a Swift Vendee worth?

Individual valuation recommended. We do not publish a fixed trade-value band for the Vendee because year, specification, condition and collection requirements can make too much difference. One range would be badly misleading: the name covers 12 ft holiday caravans and 13 and 14 ft BS 3632 lodges over more than 20 years, and new prices alone vary by more than £20,000 depending on the seller and VAT basis.

What would SCB actually pay?

Our offer is a trade price for the caravan itself, collected from where it stands. It is based on the year, confirmed size and layout, condition (damp, floors, roof and chassis), heating and glazing, and how straightforward collection will be, measured against what we can realistically resell it for. For a Vendee we need the width and build standard first, because a 13 or 14 ft lodge needs different collection arrangements from a 12 ft caravan.

A trade offer will normally be lower than the retail, park and private asking prices below. Those prices often include a pitch, siting, connections, decking, site fees or a dealer margin, and the seller has time to wait for the right buyer. A trade buyer pays for the caravan alone, arranges collection and takes on the cost and risk of resale. Individual valuation recommended: send us the plate details and some photos and we will give you a figure for your caravan.

Online prices and price context

  • New dealer price (inc VAT): £85,127.79 for a 2026 42 x 13 Vendee Lodge (Surf Bay Leisure)
  • New dealer price (VAT basis not stated): £61,995 (42 x 13) and £63,495 (42 x 14), UK Caravan Centre, off-site, checked October 2026
  • Sited park asking: £86,997 for a 2026 42 x 14 at Virley House (My Leisure Home), holiday use only

The Surf Bay and UK Caravan Centre prices differ by about £23,000 for the same size, and UK Caravan Centre does not state its VAT basis, so they should not be read as one price range. The Virley House price includes a pitch. These are list, dealer, park or private asking prices; we give the year where the source states one. None of them is a trade or cash buyer price, and none should be read as what a trade buyer would pay.

Retail vs private vs trade: what the numbers mean

  • Manufacturer list price (RRP) and ex-works price: what a new caravan costs from the maker or its dealers. Ex-works usually excludes delivery and siting. Some sources state whether VAT is included and some do not; where a source does not say, we say so, and those figures should not be compared directly with prices that include VAT.
  • Dealer retail asking (off-site): a dealer's price for a caravan not on a pitch. It includes the dealer's margin and often preparation or a warranty, and delivery and siting are usually extra.
  • Sited park asking: a price for a caravan on a park pitch. It often includes the pitch, siting, connections, sometimes decking and part of the site fees, and the park's margin.
  • Private asking: what an owner hopes to get. It can be higher than trade but may take a long time, and buyers often need the park's approval and a pitch.
  • Trade or cash buyer value: what a trade buyer pays for the caravan alone, collected. It is the lowest of these figures because the buyer takes on collection, any refurbishment and the resale risk, but it is usually the quickest and simplest exit.

What affects Swift Vendee value?

  • Version: 12 ft holiday caravan or 13 to 14 ft lodge.
  • Build standard: BS 3632 or not.
  • Year: a 2004 Vendee, a 2020 40 x 12 and a 2026 lodge are very different.
  • Pitch and site licence: holiday-only or residential use on the park.
  • Pitch or no pitch.
  • Condition: damp, soft floors, roof, windows and chassis condition matter more than the model name.
  • Appliances and fittings: present, safe and working.
  • Collection access: how easy it is to get a vehicle to the caravan and move it off the pitch.

Known features and quirks

  • A residential-spec build does not permit residential use. The site licence decides, and the Virley House example is holiday use only.
  • The 2023 review noted twin wardrobes with a seat between them in the master bedroom, and a Velux kitchen roof light as an option.

FAQs

Is the Swift Vendee a lodge or a caravan?

Both. Swift has used the name since 2004, and around 2019 to 2021 sold a 40 x 12 holiday caravan version. The current model is the Vendee Lodge, at 13 and 14 ft wide.

Can I live in a Vendee Lodge all year?

Current Vendee Lodges are built to BS 3632 residential specification, but whether you can live in one depends on the park's site licence. Some are sold for holiday use only.

Why are new Vendee prices so different?

Some dealers quote prices including VAT and others do not say, and sited prices include a pitch. Compare like with like.

Will you buy my Swift Vendee if it is old or needs work?

We look at caravans of all ages and conditions. Age and condition change the offer, so send us the plate details and photos and we will value it individually.
