Last valuation guide update: October 2026

Introduction

Want to know what a Willerby Rio is worth, or whether your caravan is the relaunched 2025 Rio, a Rio Compact, a Rio Access or an older Rio from the early 2010s? The name has been used more than once, and the current range has three separate products under it. This guide sets out what dated sources show, how to identify each one, and why an offer depends on the individual caravan.

Model history

The Rio name was used before. Leisuredays reported in September 2011 that Willerby had introduced a Rio Gold two-bed modified for disabled users for the 2012 season. Earlier Rios are a different generation and should not be compared with the 2025 range. We could not establish when the earlier Rio was first built or when it was dropped.

Leisuredays reviewed the 2025 Rio and said the range "is back", noting Willerby had also brought back a 10 ft 6 in wide version called the Compact for smaller pitches. The review gave an ex-works price of £39,400 in 2025 for the 36 x 12 two-bed it tested.

Willerby markets the current Rio as one of its entry-level holiday homes, with a distinctive layout where you step straight into the kitchen. Its live range lists the Rio from £36,200 ex VAT, the Rio Compact from £35,900 ex VAT, and the Rio Access separately as a one-layout, two-bedroom adapted model. We found no Willerby source saying the Rio Access replaced the 2012 Rio Gold, so treat them as separate adapted models.

How to identify a Willerby Rio

  • Start with the paperwork. Check the manufacturer plate, serial or chassis number and original paperwork, then confirm the model against the dimensions, layout and specification. Willerby's help centre says it may be able to find a home's age from the serial number, although it does not hold records for every home.
  • Year. A 2025 or later Rio is the relaunched model; an early 2010s Rio is an earlier generation.
  • Width. The standard Rio is 12 ft wide; the Rio Compact is 10 ft 6 in.
  • Adapted features. Wider doors, ramp access or an accessible shower point to a Rio Access or an older Rio Gold. Check the paperwork wording.
  • Layout. On the current Rio you enter straight into the kitchen.
  • Options. Check whether central heating, a patio door and an electric fire were ordered, because they are options.

Specs and typical layout

Treat this as a summary of Willerby's 2026 specification sheet and the 2025 review, not a full specification for every year.

  • Sizes: 28 x 12, 32 x 12, 36 x 12 and 38 x 12
  • Bedrooms: 2 or 3 bedrooms, sleeps 6 to 8
  • Aluminium cladding, standard colour Barley White
  • PVCu double glazed windows and doors
  • Kitchen-first layout with integrated microwave, freestanding fridge-freezer and gas oven, grill and hob
  • L-shaped wraparound seating with fold-out sofa bed, fixed dinette and freestanding table
  • King-size bed in most layouts (double in the 28 x 12 two-bed and 36 x 12 three-bed); ensuite WC except in those two layouts
  • Family shower room
  • Options include central heating, dishwasher, electric fire, sliding patio door and galvanised chassis

We could not locate specification material for the early 2010s Rio, so describe an older Rio from its plate and what is fitted.

How much is a Willerby Rio worth?

Individual valuation recommended. We do not publish a fixed trade-value band for this model because year, specification, condition and collection requirements can make too much difference. An early 2010s Rio, an adapted Rio Gold or Rio Access, a Rio Compact and a 2025 Rio are different products under one name, so a single range would mislead.

What would SCB actually pay?

We price the individual caravan: year, which Rio it is, confirmed size, whether central heating was ordered, condition and access for collection. Our offer is for the caravan alone, with collection arranged by us. It is not a list price and not a park package.

Online prices and price context

  • Manufacturer list prices (Willerby website, checked October 2026, ex VAT): Rio from £36,200 (28 x 12 two-bed), with the 36 x 12 three-bed from £43,300 and the 38 x 12 two-bed from £43,700; Rio Compact from £35,900. VAT is extra, and parks add transport, siting and margin.
  • Historical ex-works price (2025 review): £39,400 for the 2025 36 x 12 two-bed, VAT basis not stated.

These are new prices only. Park asking prices for sited Rios also include the pitch, siting, connections and often fees, so none of these figures is a trade value.

Retail vs private vs trade: what the numbers mean

  • Manufacturer RRP or ex-works price: what a new caravan cost from the factory or its price list in a given year. VAT treatment is not always stated, and siting, transport and connections are extra.
  • Dealer or park retail asking price: what a seller hopes to get. A sited park price usually includes the pitch, siting, connections, sometimes decking and site fees, and the seller's margin. An off-site dealer price usually includes refurbishment, warranty and margin.
  • Private asking price: often lower than retail, but the seller carries the risk, time and transport, and many parks restrict private sales on the pitch.
  • Trade or cash buyer value: what a buyer such as Static Caravan Buyer pays for the caravan alone, collected from the pitch, with the buyer taking on transport, refurbishment and resale. It is lower than retail because those costs and risks move to the buyer.

An asking price is not a sale price, and none of the online figures in this guide is a trade value.

What affects Willerby Rio value?

  • Year and generation: early 2010s Rio or 2025 relaunch.
  • Which product it is: Rio, Rio Compact or adapted Rio Access or Rio Gold.
  • Confirmed size and bedrooms.
  • Central heating fitted or not (an option on the current Rio).
  • Damp, roof, floors and chassis condition.
  • Appliances and fittings present and working.
  • Collection access.
  • Pitch or no pitch.

Known features and quirks

  • Kitchen at the entrance. Leisuredays thought this layout might put some buyers off, and noted the fridge-freezer sits near the dining area away from the main kitchen.
  • Central heating is optional, so do not assume a Rio has it.
  • Three current products. Rio, Rio Compact and Rio Access are listed separately by Willerby.
  • The name was used before. The 2012 Rio Gold shows the earlier generation existed, so the year matters.

Selling a Willerby Rio

Tell us which Rio the paperwork shows, the year, size, bedrooms and whether central heating is fitted. For an adapted Rio Access or Rio Gold, mention the adaptations, because they change who the caravan suits.

SCB process

  1. Call 0800 644 5000 or use the free offer form on our website.
  2. Tell us what the manufacturer plate and paperwork say: the year, size, bedrooms, heating and glazing, condition and where the caravan is sited. Photos help.
  3. Our team normally aims to contact you within 24 hours, and aims to make an offer within 48 hours of that contact. These are aims, not guarantees.
  4. If you accept, we arrange collection on a date that works for you and the park.
  5. Payment is made on collection day before the caravan is loaded.

There are no estate-agent fees and no commission.
